Hardscrabble Country Club is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Hardscrabble Country Club first opened for play in 1926. The course was designed by Perry Maxwell. The course was renovated in 1998 by Jay and Carter Morrish, updating the bunkers and greens to the modern game while preserving the layout.
The course sits on the former site of Hardscrabble Farm, a fruit orchard. Nestled among 160 acres of gorgeous River Valley landscape, Hardscrabble offers all the amenities you would expect from a world class country club. This tree-lined course plays longer than the yardage indicates. Water hazards come into play on several holes, and numerous trees and sand bunkers have been incorporated into the course design. Hardscrabble is one of the top-rated courses in Arkansas. It is also on of the toughest. The greens have all these humps and bumbs in them called "Maxwell Rolls." They were Perry Maxwell's signature. They are found at Southern Hills, Colonial, and Hardscrabble! All Maxwell gems. When the greens at Hardscrabble are running fast, this course is one of the toughest in the country!

Despite record temperatures in the area (30+ days of 100 degrees or more), the green super did an exceptional job of keeping the course in great shape, particulary the bent grass greens.
